Since your home is your single largest investment, it’s wise to ensure that it’s properly insured, especially as it relates to renovations. Here are some tips on items that often get overlooked:

Contact your insurer before starting a renovation to ensure that your policy covers construction-related risks like water damage, theft from the job site, and damaged property
Secure sufficient liability insurance in case of injury to yourself or to contracted personnel
When the renovation is complete, contact your insurer to update your policy with the improvements made
