Pets: A Best Friend For The Whole Family
According to a 2004 Pet Owners Survey undertaken by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) when asked, "Who listens to you best?" 45% of respondents chose their pets, while 30% chose their spouse or significant other.
In the same survery, if the respondents were deserted on an island and could choose only one companion, 50% would pick a dog or cat rather than a human, and 94% think their pet has human-like personality traits, such as being emotional or sensitive, outgoing, inquisitive or stubborn.
Why do pet owners feel so attached to pets? Perhaps this is best explained by the many benefits of having a pet, among which are:
