MILTON, Ont., May 30, 2017 – Mountain View Veterinary Hospital in Langley, B.C., is the winner of the 2017 Got a Pet? Get a Vet! contest, capturing more than 5,000 public votes. The contest is part of a public awareness campaign aimed to educate pet owners about the importance of having an established relationship with a veterinarian.
During the month of May, the public were invited to nominate their favourite veterinary clinic to promote the importance of regular veterinary care.
In total, there were almost 2,000 nominations and more than 8,800 votes, plus a reach of almost 100,000 on social media—a testament to the love people have for their local veterinary clinics and the great work veterinarians are doing across the country.
The entire team at Mountain View Veterinary Hospital will receive lunch and be recognized by campaign partners on social media and online.
The annual campaign involves participating SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada, which display posters featuring the Got a Pet? Get a Vet! messages, encouraging pet parents to find a vet after adopting their new family member. Information leaflets are also handed out to every visitor and adoptive pet family.
Social media advertisements promote the contest, as well as the gotapetgetavet.ca website, where pet owners can learn more about the benefits of regular veterinary care, find a local veterinarian or participate in the campaign contest by recognizing their favourite veterinary clinic.
The contest is sponsored by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, Ontario SPCA and Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada.
