Board of Directors

Kathleen Norman DVM, President

Dr._Kathleen_NormanDr. Kathleen Norman, a graduate of the University of Guelph (Bachelor of Science) and the Ontario Veterinary College, is very passionate about her profession. Having grown up with a variety of pets and a family of animal lovers, veterinary medicine was Dr. Norman’s natural calling.

Dr. Norman has been the owner of the Omemee Veterinary Hospital in Omemee, ON since June 2009. Dr. Norman has been a board member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association since 2006 and is a founding executive member of the Kawartha Veterinary Association. She was also instrumental in opening the Kawartha Veterinary Emergency Clinic to ensure her clients and their pets are provided with local, full service after hours and emergency care.

Dr. Norman also feels strongly about giving back to the community.  She and the Omemee Veterinary Hospital donate services and time to the local humane societies and various rescue organizations as well as actively participate in the Omemee Santa Claus Parade, Kawartha Lakes Santa’s Sleigh, Omemee Children’s Centre, b.r.a.i.nchild, Omemee Seniors Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Omemee Trinity United Church and the Omemee/Dunsford and district Lions.

In her spare time, Dr. Norman is an avid golfer and outdoors enthusiast and enjoys travelling, scuba diving, downhill skiing and hockey.

Gwen Jeun DVM, President-Elect

Dr._Gwen_Jeun_2Dr. Gwen Jeun is a 1997 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) and has been an OVMA member ever since. She is proud of how the OVMA represents veterinarians, both provincially and abroad.

Dr. Jeun is a long-time associate at the Emeryville Animal Hospital, where she practices small animal veterinary medicine. Her past experience includes laboratory animal medicine consulting and teaching in a veterinary technician program and she is a past President for the Essex County Veterinary Association. Dr. Jeun is certified in veterinary acupuncture with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). She is also a member of the Association of Veterinary Acupuncturists of Canada (AVAC).

Dr. Jeun lives in Windsor Ontario, with her husband. Although currently between pets, she has a soft spot for beagles.

Creating awareness about wellness in the veterinary profession is important to Dr. Jeun. She is a registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 200, Yoga Alliance). She has taught yoga and meditation at the OVMA Conference & Trade Show, Ontario Veterinary College, AVAC and on the Veterinary Information Network (VIN).

Christine Coghlan DVM, Past President

CoghlanDr. Christine Coghlan graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1994 and began small animal practice in Brampton. During her years in Brampton she was active in the Brampton Veterinary Association, organizing continuing education seminars as well as serving a term as President.

In 2003, Dr. Coghlan began working at Preston Animal Clinic in Cambridge and has been co-owner of the practice since 2004. She has lived in Guelph for more than 30 years where she has raised two children and been a very active member of the community.

Dr. Coghlan has been a proud member of the OVMA since graduating and is passionate about the importance of having a strong voice representing the veterinary profession to the public and in the media.
