Board of Directors

Matthew Richardson, DVM, President

MatthewRichardsonDr. Matthew Richardson has always had a passion for animals and science. After earning an undergraduate degree in ecology and evolutionary biology, he completed a doctorate in zoology, studying the reproductive physiology of birds breeding above the treeline in arctic and alpine environments. Despite a love of teaching and working with animals, he realized that the life of an academic was not for him, and he returned to Ontario, where he graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2007. Dr. Richardson is the owner of The Animal Clinic in downtown Toronto. His professional interests include surgery, dentistry and diagnostic imaging.

Dr. Richardson is also a past president of the Farley Foundation and founder of the OVMA's environmental sustainability committee. He's also a member of the board of directors at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association's green initiative.

Dr. Mullin has a keen interest in internal medicine, emergency medicine and pain management and regularly participates in continuing education seminars and conferences across North America.

Dr. Mullin loves the outdoors, travelling and spending quality time with her family and friends. She lives in Port Elgin with her husband and their two dogs and two cats.

Brendon Laing, DVM, President-ElectBrendon-Laing-DVM

Dr. Brendon Laing is a second generation veterinarian, following in the footsteps of this father. He has spent his entire life around animals, ranging from assisting his father with large animal emergencies to now helping deliver puppies in the middle of the night.

Dr. Laing graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2013. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Small Animal Surgery Award from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. After graduation, he joined his father in practice at Town & Country Animal Hospital in Stoufville, Ont., making them a rare father-son team.
